Purnagad Fort is located in the Purnagad village of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra state, India. This fort is located on the northern hill of the Muchkundi River Creek. Here Muchkundi River meets the Arabian Sea forming a creek. This fort is recently renovated and well maintained. The view of the Arabian Sea from this fort is amazing. History of Purnagad Fort

Even though it is a small fort but it was a very important fort for Maratha Navy. It is said that this is the last fort built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Later, Maratha Navy Admiral Kanhoji Angre developed this fort strongly. (But we aren’t fully sure about this as we don’t have exact proofs). As the name itself says, this is the complete fort for the safety of the Coastal line of Swarajya. (Purna means Complete). This fort is mainly built to defend against the enemies’ attacks from Coastal borders and to trade with European countries.
