Speciality of Saptasagar Bana :

             Saptasagar Bana is the huge farm of big Tamarind trees located in the Saptasagar village of Athani taluk, Belagavi district, Karnataka State, India. River Krishna flows beside this farm. During the rainy season, this farm suffers from floods. This beautiful farm is privately owned by the Ghorpade family but it is free for public visit. Shri Vitthal Rukmini temple is there inside this farm and a big festival happens in Vaishakh Masa of every year.

             According to the Villagers, during an ancient times here seven oceans are there. So Saptasagar name came to this village. Sapta means seven and Sagar means ocean. Even today also there are seven lakes surrounding this village. (Jakanoor Sagar, Gulli Sagar, Simp Sagar, Haru Sagar, Togal Sagar, Harijan Sagar and Prabhudev sagar). Some people call this farm Saptasagar Nag Bana. It is said that during Mahabharat time, Janmechi Raja, the great-grandson of Arjuna came here to relieve himself from Kalsarpa Dosha. Different people say different stories without any evidence. You just visit here, take the blessings of Vitthal Rukmini and enjoy the beauty of this beautiful farm.

          In Saptasagar, you have to first visit Saptasagar Bana i.e. the huge farm of big Tamarind trees located in the Saptasagar village. Then visit Shri Vitthal Rukmini temple located inside this farm.

Special Precaution :

            This place is not fully safe for solo traveling, so please come with a group of at least three to four members. Please avoid Solo Travelling. This is a special request for Female Solo Travelers and Solo Couples. Also While traveling near River Krishna always be alert and aware. Because crocodiles often come out of river water and attack for food. Also here more snakes are there. So be aware always. If you came with your kids, please don’t leave them alone.

How to reach to Saptasagar Bana :

            There are no direct busses to Saptasagar Bana. Government buses are available up to Saptasagar village from Athani. The distance between Athani and Saptasagar village is 19.9 KM. Saptasagar Bana is 1.7 KM away from Saptasagar village. Sometimes by luck, you will get an auto, but most of the time you will not get any auto or lift. So it’s better to go in your own vehicle as to save time.
