Remains of Venugopal Temple, Savadi

Venugopal Temple is located on the bank of River Krishna in the Savadi village of Athani taluk, Belagavi district, Karnataka state, India. Venugopal temple is also known as Gopal Krishna Temple or Narayan Temple. Venugopal (Lord Vishnu) is the worshiping deity of this temple. According to some archeological research, this temple was built 1200+ years ago during the Chalukyas period. But the sad thing is, now this temple is fully perished due to river floods and lack of maintenance. Some remains are still there. But it is no longer in a viewable condition. There is a lot of garbage and big trees around the temple. The view of the temple is terrible. There you can easily see the bats and the snakes. It is a distant thing to enter the temple, one does not even dare to go near the temple. No one goes there. Even the villagers are afraid to go there. Hardly our brave team got some images of the temple. This temple which was once Magnificent is now just a memory. It is unsafe to visit this place. So skip this place from your Athani trip.
